Lord Dhanvantari
(Lord of Health)

ऊँ नमोभगवतेवासदेवाय ु , धवतरये, अमतकलशहत।य। ृ
सवामयवनाशाय, ैलोकनाथाय, ीमहाव"णुवेनमः॥

Worshiped as the God of medicine, the master of universal knowledge, physician of Gods and the guardian deity of hospitals, Lord Dhanvantari is regarded as the original exponent of Indian medical tradition called Ayurveda, the ‘eternal science of life.’ This tradition is now accepted as the oldest, most original and unbroken medical system of the world.

Health is a fundamental aspect of overall well-being and quality of life. It influences every part of our existence, from our physical capabilities to our emotional stability. Maintaining good health allows individuals to engage actively in daily activities, pursue their passions, and achieve their goals.

Physical health is vital for preventing chronic diseases, improving longevity, and enhancing the body’s ability to function efficiently. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient sleep contribute significantly to physical well-being, reducing the risk of conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

Mental health is equally important. It affects how we think, feel, and interact with others. Good mental health fosters resilience, enabling individuals to cope with stress and adversity. It also enhances relationships and improves productivity.

Moreover, health is interconnected with social and economic factors. Healthy individuals can contribute more effectively to their communities and economies, promoting a cycle of well-being. Access to healthcare, education, and social support systems plays a crucial role in maintaining health for everyone.

In summary, prioritizing health is essential not just for personal benefit but also for the greater good of society. It empowers individuals to lead fulfilling lives, ultimately enhancing community strength and cohesion.

Benefits of a large scale Homam & Yaagam

Ongoing research has been demonstrating how herbs and shrubs, mantras and japas, and vibrations of divine words tend to create an optimum environment for a healthy life. As per our ancient traditions, there are homas / yajnas specifically targeted to nourish a healthy environment for a healthy life. Such homas / yajnas are both preventive and curative in nature.

One such very effective homa / yajna is the Dhanvantari Yaagam. This yaagam  is specifically meant for nurturing good health and protecting the human body against various ailments. The herbs used in the yaagam are ones that are known to develop immunity and good health. To add to this, the vibrations created by chanting of the Dhanvantari Mantra stimulates the entire human system, promoting optimal secretion of all hormones, optimal functioning of all organs and sub-systems, rectifying any aberrations, generating immunity, and nullifying effects of the environment on the individual.

Ayurveda is known as the ‘Mother of all healing systems’ as it pre-dates all other healing therapies and natural medicines. The Indian Government supports research and teaching in Ayurveda through many channels at both the national and state levels.

Swastha Bharat

“Swastha Bharat” and “Swachh Bharat” are two important initiatives in India aimed at promoting health and cleanliness.

  • Swastha Bharat: This initiative focuses on improving the health of the Indian population through awareness, access to healthcare services, and promoting healthy lifestyles. It aims to reduce disease burden and improve overall well-being.

Worship is offered to Lord Dhanvantari seeking his blessings for sound health, for themselves and/or others, especially on Dhanteras Kartik Krishna Trayodashi or Dhanwantari Trayodashi. Further The Indian Government has declared that Dhanwantari Trayodashi every year would be celebrated as the “National Ayurveda Day”, which falls on the previous day of Deepavali/Diwali.

In the context of the above, to help promote a healthy society, Shree Ayurvedic Group has been performing Saarvajanika Dhanvantari Yaagam on their premises over the last several years.
